I have moved this to the diaries section for you. Well done on getting to grips with this.  That very is probably a high rate of interest so I would tackle that next.

    thank you so much!!

The very is 0% as it has defauted and now with a DMC. Which is annoying as its another default, but when i broke up with my ex partner he racked it up and i never knew until the debt letter arrived on my parents door mat. Hey ho!
  • So i realised today that I hadn't included something in my 'debt' i had to clearpay orders, which usually i order on because i do £200+ orders and send most of it back and don't want the £200 out of my account. So just paid those off- which has left me with £4.06 in my account until Thursday when i get paid.

I have some cash dotted around the place and i've just done a shop so i wont need for anything too crazy. just annoyed me as i felt like i has everything under control and felt so positive and feel like i stupidly forgot about something. It has really caught me off guard and now i just feel so rubbish - i have no idea why, i just cannot control it.
however my plan is in place for thursday- i just have to try to stick to it

Yup, I would suggest you cut out the practice of ordering things and returning them, because it encourages you to buy more than you need. Don't be disheartened though, it's annoying but you've identified the problem and you know the solution!

Thank you - i needed bringing down to earth, i think I am just so motivated to get this going, i just was a little blindsided by it all.

  • Also as a side note I have a CC debt with Santander that fell off my credit file last year, it was really old, i have just had a letter from drydens solicitors chasing payment and offering a settlement figure. where do i stand with this? if its been the 6 years and fallen off, can they chase me for payment?

I think if you owe it, you never stop owing it unless you declare yourself bankrupt... Somebody like @Willing2Learn might know more. Bottom line I think if you want to stop being hassled you need to pay it but get some experienced advice from somebody here before you agree to anything!

While the account is automatically removed from your credit files, you would still be liable for it.  If the default date (cause of action) is also more than six years ago, then it would be likely that the account would be statute barred (though again still liable).  Have a look at the SB rules described in the article linked below:
Statute barred debt – common questions

If you believe that the account has become SB, then you should write to Drydens clearly stating this point of law.

  • @Mr87 @Willing2Learn Thank you so much! such a big help-  i never knew people were so genuinely so lovely xx
  • Happy monday everyone!
3 days until pay day (Monzo pay a day early!)
I have £9.36 in my account as I had a refund come through which i forgot about. I am going to try and not spend anything over the next few days, although i am getting very bored with the chicken rice and veg that I told myself i need to eat everyday!
What ever is left, i will transfer to the Aqua card balance. Although I am on furlough my company are topping me up to 100% pay this month and potentially next, so this is a real opportunity to just get ish paid.

I have played around with my plan/budget for next month so much as I am unsure on so many things - however i think I have it down.

    Holidays                20

I forgot i need to budget for this 20
    Petrol                          20
Food shopping Inc Cleaning, dog food and washing etc  150
    Total                            460
    Grand Total               1239
    Difference                  361
    Action Plan
    1) Pay off Aqua card (£145.92 + about £10 of interest) Had to put the vets bill on it GRRRRR!!  (205.10 Remaining)
    2) Remaining + Shopping bill =£355 + TCB due £385.10  - pay to clear Barclaycard then put my food shop back on it everymonth with aim to clear in full every month to help rebuild my credit score.
    3) Send letter to Santander re Old credit card- it fell off my credit report 4 days ago so will send the stattue bar letter as suggested above  and try.
    4) if all the above goes to plan - i have -ONE DEBT LEFT ---- Very  £1758
it has been moved to 'Debt managers uk LTD so is at 0%- called and asked if they would take a settlement and they only offered 10% reduction. so plan is to keep chucking all spare money / left over pots at it and let time pass and then ask again.

Comments/thought/suggestions are very welcome as I have no idea that this makes MSE sense
