Redundancy & Maternity Leave

My daughter is due to return to work next week having been on maternity leave and has just been informed due to company take over (last year) her role is being made redundant. She has been in constant contact since January about her return and until now nothing was mentioned about redundancy. Can anyone advise on similar situtations ?

Is there any others roles she can apply for? what have they offered her?

She must be offered an alternative role if one is available. But if it isnt, then unfortunately it's redundancy.
