Next Directory PPI Claim Refused

I had real problems getting in touch with Next Directory to discuss the PPI that I paid throughout the 1980s from its launch until the mid 1990s.
Having finally found the right people to contact, I sent off my claim. Now I have no paperwork to show for my time as a Next Directory customer & this is apparently why Next is refusing my claim.
I know I paid PPI or income protection because I did lose my job & Next refused to pay out, adding insult to injury!
They have said they will pick up my claim if I can produce paperwork even though the PPI deadline has now passed.
While self isolating in lockdown I'm taking the opportunity to tidy up my disastrously untidy financial life, what is my next step?
Thanks in advance

It sounds like you're actually making a complaint, rather than a claim.
You need to find evidence of having had PPI, such as statements.
If you don't have the evidence, you don't need to do anything more.2 -
It is no surprise they have no paperwork given the dates involved. So, they are asking you to supply anything you have. If you both have nothing then your complaint is over.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. If you find then all but if you can't them in afraid you will need to write it off.1
