Eurostar via TheTrainline.com - refund advice

My daughter booked a Eurostar London-Paris ticket through thetrainline.com. Since the train is highly likely to be cancelled, she made enquiries to trainline about getting a refund. They told her to deal direct with Eurostar. So...some questions if anyone else in the same position:
1) Is it correct that she must deal direct with Eurostar?
2) I assume she will get a notice of cancellation from Eurostar (or maybe trainline) when the service is cancelled? If so, how far in advance does that notification arrive? I'm assuming others have received such notification
Thanks.

Hi
Sorry I don’t have all the answers to your questions, we booked direct Eurostar for our honeymoon in May and used Rail Europe for our other European train journeys and they have been fantastic about refunds. I do know that Eurostar are officially only offering vouchers for booked train journeys that have to used by Sept for journeys up to March 2021! However I came across the following information (see sceeenshot) from the maninseat61 about how to get a refund. Eurostar are not advertising this but only offering vouchers however you are entitled to do this and we will be going down this route for our bookings. I hope this helps.

Thanks. Yes I'm pretty sure she's going to get her refund one way or another but will have to wait for the train to be officially cancelled (at which point I'm sure all your consumer rights kick in). It's just the added complication of the third party. Trainline have now said that Eurostar will contact her and that the cancellations are published on their website 48 hours before travel so that ties in with your flowchart.

Very useful advice. I am booked to travel on a cancelled train to Paris, so shall be following it. Unfortunately my return train appears to be running. However, I cannot travel to Paris, as not only is my train cancelled but Eurostar have no free seats for my day of travel. In these circumstances, do you think I should get a refund? If so, what's the best way to approach it?0
