How long to wait for payout of PPI

Hi and I will say thanks now
I have been awarded 2 claims on PPI amounting to approx £9000 - I sent the various letters back accepting and the cheques were to take 30 days to arrive as I no longer have accounts with the 2 banks. It is now 42 days and no cheques have arrived - I have tried to contact both offices but they are both closed and no one is dealing with the processes. I have contacted both banks but have been told that this is nothing to do with them and I will just have to wait. I have emailed complaints to both as they did not send any letters till February - stating that they were overwhelmed with claims. Its thanks to Martyn that I applied.
I have thought of contacting the Financial Ombudsman but just want the cheques as promised. These will help out no end in the current climate but I am not sure where to go  now, plus I am worried that these cheques have gone elsewhere.
Thanks

The Covid19 lockdown means that any attempt to contact anyone with regard to this will be futile.
You'll just have to wait until everything returns to normal.

The Ombudsman cannot get in contact with offices which are closed either

    Sorry.

Following the deadline last August, the volume of complaints increased significantly and the wait pushed things back into many months instead of many weeks.  not quite as bad as a decade ago when it would take 2 years.   However, since then the CV has closed most of the offices and staff furloughed or working from home.  So, you are looking at 3-4 months at this time.

I have thought of contacting the Financial Ombudsman but just want the cheques as promised.

The FOS was telling people to accept delays before the CV hit.   The FOS itself was suffering 3-6 months wait at the turn of the year.  Goodness knows what it will be now with them on reduced staff as well.

Be patient.   You waited 15 years to put your PPI complaint in.   So, waiting a few more months is not really an issue.

Absolutely no point complaining to FOS. Like everywhere else in the country just in case you haven't noticed, there is a national emergency going on. FOS like everyone else are telling people that there will be long delays to their own services. You will get the money at some point, so it will just make that that light at the end of this tunnel a little bit brighter for you when you do.

Thank you for your comments To societys_child - the money will go to pay for a new boiler as my other has packed up and an engineer fitted a new one on presentation of these letters, my disabled daughter will have extra fitments as our local council cannot afford the costs, she can also have the electric wheelchair that she needs . I hope that answers your question - so please do not assume that this money is not required. Its all I can do to stop my daughter from dying. I would suggest that unless you know a person and their circumstances, unless you have something appropriate and meaningful to say, I would refrain from commenting.
    Thanks MoneyineptitudedunstonhThe_squirrell for your advice.

How long has he given you to pay?
As you could be still waiting for the redress in a few months, I hope he's patient....

Fortunately he is. Although friends and family have pulled together to sort this out, he to is facing financial problems, and I do not want to add to his problems as he only charged for the boiler and parts. He waived fitting costs due to my daughter's condition. He is one of the best.

Not every bank has closed down its PPI office for the duration. My claim is with RBS and offices and phone lines were open as of 2 weeks ago, although the lady I spoke to said they were short staffed. Good luck on your claim, and best wishes to you and your daughter.
