Getting through to Barclaycard on the phone

Hi,
I managed to lock my online Barclaycard account and whenever I go through the process to get the 8 digit code and reset passwords etc it comes up with a message saying 'sorry there was a problem and we were unable to process your request due to a system error...'  So when I try to give them a call, enter card details etc, the recording says something along the lines 'sorry we have had to step away' and the lines goes dead.  I have tried many times and always get the same result.
I understand that they will be busy and understaffed and I am happy to wait in a queue, but I can not get through over the past couple of weeks to actually speak to anyone.
Does anyone have any suggestions how to unlock my online account or actually speak to someone to resolve it?
Thanks in advance.

If your Barclaycard app is still working, can't you use the 'direct call' option in the app? Means you dont't have to enter your card details, security  info etc. Though wait times are still very long, however i recommend calling first thing in morning (8am) and you should get tthrough within 30 mins. Btw when their system asks you the reason for your call, just repeatedly keep saying 'speak to an agent'.
