I want to make a will and leave everything to one person, is it ok for me to print a template from the internet (anyone know a good free site?) Or buy a pack from Amazon?
Would it be just as legally valid as if I had gone to a solicitor?
Also, is there a service I could use afterwards to have it checked and approved?
Also, this person isn't family so I am worried about my sister's challenging the will.
What steps could I take to avoid that?

Why not do the job properly in the first place? Use a solicitor, who can then check before you sign that it is valid etc. They can also advise on how to minimise the chances of a successful challenge from your sister.

There is really nothing you can do to prevent your will being challenged - you do need to have it written in such a way as to make such a challenge unlikely to succeed.

It could therefore be best to have your will drafted by a solicitor after due consultation.

it is true that solicitors may well be working from home at the moment but it is possible to have a discussion over the telephone/via a computer link?

You will never know if you've c**ked it up - but your intended beneficiary might.  Just pay a couple of £100 to a solicitor (NOT a will writer) and you can sleep soundly at night.

So what do you want to happen if the person in question dies before you do ?
Who do you want to be the executor of the will ?
A solicitor should step you through all the things you need to consider and ensure it correctly reflects your wishes.
