    Presumably they only charge the monthly fee if there is enough credit on the card to cover it? If not, where would they get the fee from?

    I haven't logged into that account for a few years now. It only ever had £1 in it and I haven't heard anything from them so I assume there's nothing outstanding. They can keep the £1 - for me it goes under research and development costs.
