Increase limit or not? Conflicting advice!

Morning all,
I have been monitoring my score through various different outlets, mainly Experian. However, I checked my Credit Karma (Noddle) account yesterday, which told me two things:
- Increase my total credit limit would improve my score
- Applying for new credit would decrease my score
This is obviously conflicting info! I was thinking about getting another balance transfer card anyway as my interest free period is up end of July, but don't know what is best to do! Any advice?
TIA

    Hi tjhenson  :)

Ignore all the 'advice' you get from CreditKarma as they are just trying to sell you a product so that they earn their cut.

FYI, your 'credit score' will usually go down with any significant changes to the data.  A change to your credit limit would therefore be likely to reduce your 'credit score'

Whether a higher credit limit would benefit you in terms of your risk profile depends on your limits, income and balances.

The best way to improve your score is to go bankrupt or die, but neither are recommended.
