Hi there
I foolishly rang back what turns out to be a Wangiri number. The 30 second call cost me £169.43
Is there anything I can do about it? Id like to speak to 3 customer services but they are closed.
To put it in a bit of context I was due to be on holiday that day but it was cancelled due to Covid. I saw the several missed calls from a foreign number and assumed it was from either the hotel or car hire company. I never under normal circumstances call foreign numbers back.
Any advice would be appreciated

While Wangiri does exist, those running such scams make money by taking a cut of the standard premium rate or international call charges that apply when calling such numbers. They do not have special powers to apply arbitrary charges to your account. For you to have genuinely been charged this amount for a 30 second call would mean that Three were routinely charging over £300 per minute for certain types of calls which is highly unlikely to be the case. (The highest rate in their published tariff is £7.66 per minute, for calling satellite phones.)May I suggest you post the number you dialled and let us know how you established that it cost £169.43 to call?
