Are any chains exchanging / completing at the moment?

Basically as the title asks, are any chains exchanging / completing at the moment? If there is a chain (of any length) are solicitors allowing this to happen?
Or is it only 'single moves' into an empty property that can go through?

It should only be into empty properties, Government advice is at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/government-advice-on-home-moving-during-the-coronavirus-covid-19-outbreak

Our solicitor is planning to exchange (on a three property chain) as soon as restrictions are lifted.

we are trying to complete - vendors want to move it to "when restrictions are lifted" but that is feeling a bit nebulous to me
  • We are exchanging and completing tomorrow. Our solicitor is allowing us as there is no chain on both ends and the property we are buying has been empty for months now
    save for the rainy days

We are in a chain of two.  Our sellers say they will vacate 3 days before completion.  Because we are cash buyers and in rented with time left before our rental contract ends we don't have to move right away anyway.  So in effect we would be moving into an empty property. Our sellers say they are moving in with family but I'm not sure that's within either the spirit or the letter of the lockdown so I'm not holding my breath.  Our solicitors are OK with the arrangements at our end; in fact they suggested them.

Relatively low risk activities like house moving could be among the first restrictions to be relaxed.
  • Had a chain of 5 complete on a simultaneous exchange/completion last monday.
Chain of 3 completed last thursday
Quite a few people moving to empty properties

Also heard of an agent in my town selling 3 properties last week. 3 virtual viewings and apparently 2 of them decided between themselves to do a low key visit to the property.    Numpties!
  • Was hoping to exchange/complete next Friday, but unfortunately one in the chain will not move until government lift some of the restrictions.

So on hold until further notice! 🙈

We're pushing towards exchange and completion - our solicitors are very much on the go, go, go slow at the moment!

We're awaiting some further enquiries back from the solicitor and one more local search to be returned - the solicitors have requested source of funds so I'm assuming it'll be within the next week or two that we'll be discussing exchange and completion.

It's only ourselves (FTB's) and the seller - the property is vacant so the solicitors are trying to find a way they can still exchange/complete.
