Sky Q box auto deletes recordings

Hi,  we have had Sky Q for about 2 years. We keep losing things we have recorded, as if its auto deleting recordings.
As you can imagine this is csusing subtle arguments within our household because I have lost recordings, my partner also has lost recordings, and things we recorded for our daughter has gone missing.
I rang Sky about this and they asked has everything gone missing and I said no just random things as if someone has deleted them, and Sky couldnt understand it or explain it, and more or less wouldn't help because they said if everything was deleted we might have to replace the box, but because we told them its random stuff they wouldnt help.
Anyone else had this problem?

Are you actually recording them as broadcast or getting them from On-Demand/Catch-Up?
A lot of the on-demand stuff does expire at some point in the future, most of the ITV Hub is 30 days, some of the BBC is 30 but could be up to a year, and some stuff is available "indefinitely", which is realistically 2038 for boring technical reasons I shan't go into here.

The other option of course is that if the drive is full, and you record more stuff, the older watched recordings are removed automatically to make room.  UHD takes up far more space than HD does.

Its proper recordings from broadcast, nothing to do with catch up or on demand related stuff.
    I havent got UHD.
You'd have thought it would warn you if hard drive is full would you like to carry on or delete certain things.
How can I tell how full it is? I couldnt find that setting anywhere?

Have you looked in the deleted section of your planner? The only time any Sky recorder will automatically delete content is if the hard drive is running out of space and even then it will be the oldest recordings deleted first.

If you want see roughly how much space you have then simply look at the planner which will show how much, as a percentage, you have used up.

I havent checked the deleted section because to be honest I couldn't find how to get there. I could on the old HD boxes,  but not on the Q boxes

I have accidentally deleted recordings as well.  It happens when I watch a recorded series, I watch the first 1 or2 then delete them, if I immediately click to watch No 3 it deletes as I didn't go left first!   It isn't obvious that the delete option is still selected!
