How do I get the refundable deposit back that I paid for an Electric Mini?
Options
Last August I put down a £500 deposit on a new electric Mini with a local dealer called Inchcape.
The deal was that it was totally refundable if I changed my mind.
Since the beginning of March I have been trying to get my money back from the dealer. I have the originally credit card receipt which is dated and numbered and an email confirming that it can be refunded at any time if I request it.
But the dealer has been passing me from person to person within their company saying that they are trying to locate the payment and loads of other excuses.
I really need the money back as I have lost my income due to Covid 19.
Should I do a chargeback through my credit card company or continue trying to persue the dealer? Which will be quicker?
Surely I am not the only one who has asked for their deposit back for these cars considering they never got made as the plant has closed due to lockdown?
I don't understand why they are making it so difficult for me.

They are making it so difficult because they don't want to give you £500 back and lose the sale.Keep pressing at them, complain officially and contact the card company to get a chargeback.0

That may be the problem. They have no income now and have cash flow problems0
