Jet 2 Holiday - Deposit Help

Hi Guys - Just after a little help and advice please concerning our summer holiday which we have booked on the 14th August to Spain.

We have already decided as a family that regardless of how things progress with the Coronavirus, that we plan to CANCEL this holiday and rebook for something else either later in the year or for 2021.

Its not alot of money but we have already paid £180 to Jet2 which is the deposit amount for the holiday.
The outstanding balance is £2,600 which is due to be paid by the 5th June.

If we cancel, is there anyway at all we can recover this £180 back, as we would like to use this money towards booking a different holiday later in the year ????
My wife keeps insisting there is nothing we can do and we just have to accept losing the £180.

I wonder how many families are loosing hundreds of pounds (deposits) by cancelling holidays they no longer feel safe going on.

As i say we do plan to still go on holiday, i just wish to go later when things have settled down abit, but i feel this £180 loss seems abit of wasted money.

No. Cancel the holiday, or dont pay the balance, and the deposit is lost as per the terms of your booking.

The advice is to pay the balance and not cancel so you get ALL your money back .

Cancellation means you lose your deposit and if you use the low deposit scheme you will still need to pay the outstanding deposit amount.

Jet2 have been very good at refunds and rebooking

Dont think Jet2 have a low deposit scheme so you are muddying the waters somewhat there ;)

Hi. I was faced with a similar situation. We were due go to Tenerife, on  the 2nd August, and the balance was due by May. The deposit already paid was £120 per couple. We decided  to lose the deposit, and cancel. One of the reasons was, a voucher refund or to re book were options that were unsuitable to us. If  we knew that we would of got a money refund, then maybe we would of paid the balance, but that appears not to be the case. It is difficult, but it depends on what is best for you. If the situations changes for the better in August, then i can always look for something, knowing i still have the main amount of money available still in my account, and  it gives me the option to look at different countries. For the record our holiday was booked Jet2

I should have said "a low deposit scheme" .

I'm not looking at every sites deposit scheme , OP can do that quite easily .
