What bricks (bought from B&Q/Wickes etc) do I use to build barbecue?

Hi all
with potentially another 3 week lockdown on the way I have decided to build a small brick barbecue in the back garden. The flags and footings are already down from an old barbecue that I knocked down 10 years ago. The video (which I watched on YouTube) mentions engineering bricks or special bricks for fire but I am not too sure if they sell such bricks at High St DIY stores like B&Q or Wickes. Can anyone assist please?

Engineering bricks are the most common type of brick and can easily be purchased from most, bigger hardware stores, if currently open.1

I built mine using standard bricks about four years ago.

Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.2 -
I built mine with (cheap) blue blocks, then put a few courses (layers) of bricks on the top row... then rendered the blocks in a sandy colour (or could paint it). This helped hide any mistakes and had made it quite complex with a herb garden planter too. Just need to find some nice thick tiles to put ontop of the last course of bricks (any suggestions...?). My bbq has a metal plate at the rear, was built an inch or so bigger than the grill and so far not had any issues.0
