Avios Points

Hi
I am due to receive a large refund for a holiday which has been cancelled by the tour operator due to Covid-19.  I paid by Amex and they advise that my Avios points will be refunded as will my 6000 points welcome bonus (about 8000 points in total).
As this refund was due to the virus and I would have otherwise gone on holiday, is there anyway I can save some of these points?

I don't think so, no. The points are a reward for spending money on the holiday. As you are no longer spending that money, no points are due.

My USA flights have been cancelled by BA. The flights and reserved seats  were paid for using  only Avios but taxes in cash. Will BA give me a cash refund for the value of the flights and refund Taxes , or will I get  refunded in Avios points

a refund should be as per payment method - cash elements will be refunded in cash, avios elements refunded in avios
