Owning a house makes no difference as long as you live in it.
Assuming no dependent children you will likely qualify for some UC taking into account your wife’s income. (You could look into new style JSA to see if that nets you more for the first 6 months of unemployment, but currently UC is boosted due to Covid 19)
It is also worth looking at your local councils website to see if you would qualify for council tax reduction.0 -
If you have no dependent children I doubt you would be entitled to any UC but does depend on your wife's net monthly income. On an income of 18k there is likely to be no entitlement, you would not have a work allowance without children on the claim.0

And UC will take into account any savings you have over £6000. If it's £16000 or over you'll definitely get nothing
It does look like your wife earnings will not entitle you to UC.

New Style JSA isn't means tested. If you've paid enough NI contributions in the tax years April 2017 to March 2019 then you can apply for this. It pays £74.35 per week for 6 months. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-jobseekers-allowance

I agree with others that if your only UC entitlement is the standard allowance your wife’s income of £18,000 means you will will not qualify for UC. New style JSA will pay £74.35/week for 26 weeks.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.1

So it's very confusing. Is job seekers allowance not part of universal credit? Should of said we have a baby due in june and i have under £6000 savings. I haven't lost my job yet. Im furloughed as a chef but hospitality is absolutely knackered.0

Is job seekers allowance not part of universal credit?JSA is a short term "insurance" payout as in National Insurance - no reference to means or savings.
Universal Credit is means and savings tested so only for those in need of support.- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.
