Shed base

I want a concrete base put down for a 5' x 7' shed. I have been quoted £350. The area has already been dug out. Is this reasonable? Thanks

£100-£150 for hardcore, ballast, and cement. £200-£250 for a days labour - Depending on where you are in the country, it isn't too outlandish. If the area has already been dug out and boards put in for the edges, it isn't too difficult to do yourself - Hard work mixing concrete by hand, but doable..I've done two bases (8x6 & 10x6) all by myself, but I had a supply of hardcore/rubble to hand (old lime plaster from a couple of ceilings), and plenty of time.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

The price is not too bad but that does depend on what part of the country. It might be cheaper to have some cheap slabs laid flat and level instead of concrete.1

By the time you have prepared the sub-base, compacted it, and then purchased slabs, I doubt there will be that much difference in price.Maxson said: It might be cheaper to have some cheap slabs laid flat and level instead of concrete.

If it's already dug out and depending on the ground it probably just needs four bags of ballast tipping on it, treading and levelling before laying slabs. It's just for a small shed. You should do the same sort of prep. for concrete as well. Then you need about 2 bags of sand and 1 25kg bag of cement plus 10 600x600 slabs at about £3 each. It would take me about 2 to 3 hours. The price may only be £150 or £100 different but it could be worth getting a price if money is tight.FreeBear said:
