Surprised By BR Reported In Local Paper!

A friend has just 'phoned me to register her surprise at seeing my bankruptcy notice in the local paper last Wednesday!
I was surprised too because, although I knew it would happen some time, I thought that the OR would at least have the decency to give me prior warning.
Shouldn't I have been told about this in advance?

Gosh, what was you friend doing reading that section of the paper anyway? Some people love a bit of gossip don't they?
As far as I understand, you don't get prior warning.BCSC Member 70:j

i have a feeling it is mentioned in the BR forms that you fill in (or the guidelines). They put the notice in the local paper and the london paper but to be honest not many people read them (apart from your friend obviously).0

Hi Julian,
I wsn't in the least bothered about going bankrupt, and couldn't give a damn what people think or say behind my back, but I wasn't very keen on seeing it in the local paper.
My O.H on the other hand, couldn't wait to buy a paper from the shop in the village to see if we were in. She was quite disappointed until it actually appeared; it very soon becomes old news.
Regards

Brokenhearted, you obviously did not read my post fully!
If you had you would have seen that I wrote: " I knew it would happen some time".
I was well aware that bankruptcies are reported in the press but I was under the impression that the OR gave advance warning.
Thank you for your understanding - not!0 -

The OR probably wouldn't have been able to warn you even if they wanted to, because when the piece will appear is dependent on publication deadlines & space available.JulianCBrown wrote: »A friend has just 'phoned me to register her surprise at seeing my bankruptcy notice in the local paper last Wednesday!

I bought the local paper for a good month after going BR to see it in print, & didn't see it at all. Months later, someone made a point of telling me she'd seen it - I told her where to shove her comments, & that was the end of that. I think the person who's been most interested in looking at my BR record more than anyone else is me - I've looked at it on the Insolvency Register, the London Gazette & on my credit files. No-one else has batted an eyelid.
Your BR is already old news, so don't worry about it.
