Currys LGTV

After looking online it appears that there is a common issue with LG TV's ( I'd be interested to hear if anyone else had any similar issues).
Obviously being in this lockdown period the TV is a source of entertainment now more than ever but unfortunately it is nearly impossible to watch during the day due to the darkness of the screen and equally as bad at night when we can see it, it is blue.
I know that it is now out of warranty but surely just over 3 years is a very short life span for a TV from a reputable company?
I rang customer service and they were of very little help insisting that the only option I had was to send it in for a repair (at a cost of £95) which can only be done instore, but due to the current circumstances all stores are shut so I would have to wait till they open.
My understanding of the Cosumer Rights Act is very limited, but having read a page on Which? it states that a full or partial refund required to be given if
- the cost of the repair or replacement is disproportionate to the value of the goods or digital content
- a repair or replacement is impossible
- a repair or replacement would cause you significant inconvenience
- the repair would take an unreasonably long amount of time.

Which makes the repair impossible? In addition, is "a distinct change in picture quality", an inherent fault which was present at the time you purchased the set?I think you'll have to put any "complaint" on hold for the time being...2

So a 3 year old TV that cost £399. You might get a partial refund, or if lucky they might have a part to get it working. But it will be so small that is it worth the stress & trouble at the moment.
I would just go and buy a new one and have done.Life in the slow lane4 -
Under CR they have the right to inspect or you to proof your assertion via an independent report .yes we are in an unknown position at present .0

Hi all, thanks for the feedbackI have purchased a new tv (Samsung model) but I also took a shot at emailing the CEO of Dixons Carphone Warehouse (parent company for Currys and they are arranging to collect the TV and do a free assesment to see if they can work out the problem.
