Battery Back up for solar water pump

Got a cascade type water fountain.I got a solar water pump which just about lifts the water to 50cm needed to keep the water flowing. It stops the moment sun is not bright or in right direction.
I was wondering if i could add a battery back up to keep it running for another 2-3 hours.
How should I go about it?
Many thanks

How long is a piece of string?
There's all sorts of things you'd need to consider, firstly whether the solar panels can provide enough power to both run the pump and charge a battery.

Get one with a decent sized panel that can charge the battery quickly, and a timer so that the pump can be turned off at night.Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
If the existing panel is only just adequate to run the pump, then it won't be able to run the pump and charge a battery at the same time. With a bigger panel, a rechargeable battery and a suitable battery management system, it's definitely possible. But the kit may end up costing you more than the original pump.If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1
