Flat roof arrghh

The flat portion of my roof is leaking again we have had it replaced twice in the last 14 years. Has anyone on here tried the fibre glass or rubber type and do they last any longer .

Twice in 14 years is really bad and implies the job was badly done.
Our first flat felt roof lasted in excess of 25 years and we just had it redone this year by a reputable company so i expect at least 15 years from the replacement. A friend of mine had glass fibre done on his L shaped extension some 12 years ago and he rates it highly. I intend to use a rubber DIY kit for the garage when that goes as the kits online are relatively cheap and the rubber generally has a good guarentee these days. One point worth noting is that for a straight recover i was quoted £1200 for felt and £2500 for rubber but the higher up front cost may not be an issue if you get the increased lifespan you want.

twice in 14 yrs is not far off the average.
you can usually reckon to fix a flat roof every 10 yrs or so.

you can buy all the materials from say wickes and get a local man in for the job. (if you cannot diy).
labour rate should be approx 200/400 quid.

Our flat roof that I did myself had been on 21 years when I changed it to fiberglass last year.

It had not leaked but I was afraid to tempt providence any longer.
