yes you should take not spreading the virus seriously when people are dying, that’s in keeping with the government advice and all the recent law isn’t it?

    lovely friendly place as usual.
    Everyone  should take it seriously.

However government guidelines state you can move your under 18s between parental households.

I've been told that due to a drop in demand for the rental market during lockdown that many properties are now available for a very reduced rent.
Where are all these reduced rent properties you have been "told about"? Certainly none in my area of mid-Wales and in fact more and more rentals are now saying you can't view/move in until after the lockdown restrictions are over anyway.

That isn't how your post comes across. It very much screams this is the law, do as i say.

The number of global confirmed cases makes up 1.4% of the UK population. The chances of someone having the virus are pretty slim anyway. Should you avoid unnecessary contact with people. Yes.

Does that mean you must stay in doors? no.

My point wasnt about you losing someone, that's obviously horrible. My point is that doesnt make your opinion more relevant.

Bristol for one place, and Edinburgh this summer when the festival doesn`t happen. Your area does seem to be quite immune to the economic realities that affect the rest of the country judging by some of your previous posts?

Up to a point, but it seems that different police forces are taking different approaches to this, and they are working more from government guidelines with increased police powers than from a law change? It isn`t illegal (yet) to go outside, and the point at which it does become illegal is the point at which the government falls, they are very very weak looking already, the Brexit wave is well and truly over for B.J IMO.

Not immune at all, the economic reality is what it is. What it does highlight is that you cannot apply a blanket assumption across the whole of the UK as all areas are different.
You were telling us years ago that your part of Edinburgh was full of empty flats so it's hardly surprising to hear there are rent reductions in your area whereas I live in a popular part of mid-Wales where most homes (both rentals and to own) are snapped up before they ever appear on Rightmove. I've just had to extend my search to the entire county of Powys (132,000 people) to find a grand total of 9 properties with reduced rent...

That was a different area to now though, and a different time, so again not sure what point you are trying to get across? IMO Holiday lets/Holiday homes will be one of the first things to be hit when we come out the other side of this.....so maybe you should take a wait and see attitude before making assumptions about how your area will be affected.....?....However none of what you posted has any connection to what I posted, which was that there are rent reductions going on in Bristol, one of the most expensive places to rent (until now) and that the Edinburgh festival is cancelled for the first time in it`s history, that is a city-wide effect on BTL/hotels and Airbnb, not specific to certain areas, in fact more affluent areas are likely to be hit harder IMO because that is obviously where the tourist traffic heads. Again, not sure how a handful of landlords in rural Wales hanging on for rent levels they used to get could tell us much about where the UK could be headed after this crisis?

You seem to have jumped from long term rentals to short term holiday lets for some reason. I don't believe even the 25 day long Edinburgh Festival will have the slightest effect on long term rentals in the city.
Similarly regarding your "wait and see" comment, the OP was talking about rent reductions now and I stated rent reductions in Powys now are negligible; I know you like to paint a picture of the housing market being constantly in dire straights but time after time, year after year, your opinion is contradicted by verifiable, factual evidence...
Anyway this discussion is getting too close to Debating House Prices so I think it's time to call an end to it until the other Board is re-opened.
