Vehicle excise duty (Road Tax)

With the cv19 causing problems has anyone tried to get a reduction on ved due to the reduced mileage most of us are doing. I know you can ask for a reduction in mileage from the insurance company.

Do you want to ask for a partial refund of your driving licence cost as you are not using it so much?

Since when has VED been based on mileage?

I was doing 5000 miles a year paying £150 on my previous car, someone could be doing 10,000 miles and be paying £20.

Short: never been based on mileage.

I paid for my passport to be renewed 5 years ago, only used once, other people paid the same, and may have used it 10 times already.

I'll be in 'profit' anyway. Due to shielding I'll be doing 5000 miles less this year plus saving over £200 in Mersey Gateway tolls

    I doubt if they'd even consider a 25% discount on £30 VED for a 3 month period of non-use

Since I stopped driving my car I've managed to get a fantastic reduction in the amount of fuel duty I pay..
