Long Stay - Winter Abroad 20/21

Hi, would someone be able to point me in the right direction, or give me advice on where to book long term rental for say 4 months in southern europe? I need to find somewhere, or property owners that offer a discount for booking multiple weeks/months. Just a small place like a budget low rent 1-bed flat/apartment/mobile home/caravan. Not fussed which country but it's got to be WARM!!! obviously SE won't be like the canaries in winter, but I'm not fussed about that as long as it's warmer than british winters.
Would trip advisor and owners direct be the place to look? Have any of you booked similar longer winter rental in the past?

Thanks

We've done this in the past. We emailed the owners directly from one of the usual sites (Ownersdirect, holidaylettings, Ebay etc) and asked if they could do a 3 month deal over winter. We managed to get a monthly rate for about the same as a weekly rate in summer. Some owners were even happy to do a one month rental, which allowed us to travel around Spain a month at a time. The cheapest we paid for a 2 bed apartment in Mojacar was €320 per month (incl all bills) and the most expensive was a 3 bed villa, with it's own pool, in Pego for €450 per month.

Cheers that's a good idea, I didn't think of doing that. I will do the smae, i.e. try and negotiate a bulk booking in the same way you did. Thanks for that.
  • Don't forget after the transition period is over you can only stay in Schengen for no more than 90 days.

I can't provide any specifics, but we were chatting to a couple who spend the winter months at Coral Bay in Cyprus.  The apartment cost very little, around £100 per week as I recall.  It might be worth posing the question on the relevant TripAdvisor forum.

Be careful in Cyprus.  The winters, Dec, Jan and Feb, can be cold, and if the accommodation isn't centrally heated then it won't be much fun.  If it is centrally heated then don't expect the heating to be included in the rental cost, and it's expensive.
  • I'd also be wary of booking anything until countries publish their requirements for foreign visitors re Covid-19.
