Repair feather edge fence

I had a feather edge fence put in about 5 years ago and a second one about 2 years ago. Both have the arris rails coming loose and in some places have completely come away from the post. The guy said he would come back but after about a year waiting with lots of excuses I’m going to give in and have a go myself before they completely fall apart! Now I’m not very handy so forgive me if this is a stupid question.

how do I reattach the arris rails to the post when there is now a gap? I’m assuming it’s not actually possible to get them to join back together anymore? Do I just buy arris rail brackets for each rail and attach these as best I can and buy an extra feather edge board to fill in the gap at the edge?

Some of the feather edge boards are no longer overlapping either and I’m guessing there is nothing I can do to fix this?

If the feather edge boards have shrunk, you'll need to add additional boards if you want to fill in the gaps. Might be easier and more cost effective to purchase a section of ready made feather edge fence panel.
Of course, obtaining such an item could prove problematical at the current time...
  • That sounds harder to fit than bodging it back together as I’d have to remove the whole panel? Also some of it is on a slope so the boards are not in a straight line if that makes sense.

Would it work using arris rail brackets on all rails even if there’s a gap then just hammering an extra feather edge board on to cover the gap?
