Can Furloughed workers get other paid work?
Is this allowed under the government scheme?
As there are a lot of people who are unemployed with no income who cannot get work.

Yes, you can work for another employer whilst furloughed.1

so legally they can get other work ,but morally this doesn't seem right as furloughed workers are getting at least 80% of their wage
and unemployed only get £74 a week JSA..
the jobs market is extremely limited at present therefore unemployed workers with no income should not have to compete with
furloughed workers.?

You can only work for another employer if your current employment contract allows it, so not everyone can. It is good for those where 80% of wages is not enough to live on ...0

Not quite. You can work for another employer if your current contract doesn't forbid it. ie if your contract is silent on the matter then you can work elsewhereAshtreejo said:You can only work for another employer if your current employment contract allows it, so not everyone can. Just so I'm clear. Are you saying that you can receive 80% of your wages for one job while working full time for another?
I thought furlough payments would stop if you got another job because its effectively a benefit?0 -
Guidance to employees:
"If you currently have more than one employer
You can be put on furlough by one employer and continue to work for another. If you’re put on furlough by more than one employer, you’ll receive separate payments from each employer. The 80% of your regular wage up to a £2,500 monthly cap applies to each job."
However, you have to check that your contracts of employment permit the other employment.

I think the government should tighten the furlough rules to stop people taking other paid jobs,if people can't survive on 80 % of their wages then they can apply for benefits.
If you have a mortgage, loan or credit cards you can get a 3 month payment holiday.

As it does specifically say "currently have more than one employer" it would be interesting to see what (if any) restrictions they have in place for someone taking a 2nd job at a later date than the 29 Feb.Jeremy535897 said:Guidance to employees:"If you currently have more than one employer

"Working for a different employer
If contractually allowed, your employees are permitted to work for another employer whilst you have placed them on furlough.
For any employer that takes on a new employee, the new employer should ensure they complete the starter checklist form correctly. If the employee is furloughed from another employment, they should complete Statement C."
