Credit card refund for cancelled events

in Credit cards
Over the last 12 months I’ve bought tickets for events on my credit card for myself and friends. These events have now been cancelled and I assume I will be refunded. I still have an outstanding balance on my card from other purchases (I paid off all ticket purchases immediately with money give to me for the tickets) but my friends will now want their money back (and I’d quite like to be able to put my share up ready to rebook). Is there anyway when it hits my account I can get the money out? Otherwise I will be in debt to my friends and I won’t be able to afford to rebook my own tickets when they next become available (although my Cc balance will be much better for it!!)

When the money hits your credit card and assuming you are then in positive balance you can call them and ask them to transfer it to your bank account0

Thanks but that’s the problem I won’t be in a positive balance as have other things on there I’m paying off gradually. I will owe around £300 to friends but won’t have it spare in my current account to give them. I put the money they gave me for the tickets straight to pay off their portion of the credit card.Tildaplum said:When the money hits your credit card and assuming you are then in positive balance you can call them and ask them to transfer it to your bank account0 -
Use the available capacity on your card for purchases and give your friends the money you would normally have used for those purchases.
Better still, put your purchases on a 0% card.0 -
If you wont be in a positive balance then the card won't send the refund to you but use it towards paying off the balance.
Your friends will have to wait OR you can go to an ATM and get cash out on your credit card
a lot of credit cards have suspended the cash advance fee so if yours us one of them you will just end up paying interest on the cash you withdrew which is what you would have done anyway with your negative balance0
