After taking out the cover from my sofa I found some stains looking like brown clouds (picture attached). Years ago mouse dropping were found under the sofa. Could the staines be from those old mice?
Thanks so much.

  • Probably mice or i think these stains from bed bugs. You should take some good Pest control services to clean your house.

Surely anyone who had bed bugs would become aware of it fairly soon and not via some stains on a cushion cover!

  • I didn't think bed bugs leave stains - they're tiny!  Also not sure what a mouse could be doing to leave such a stain on a vertical surface - urine dribbles wouldn't be round like that, and I don't think quite so dark.

It looks a little like blood to me (although could be hot chocolate/coffee too) although I'm at a loss to understand how a vertical surface can have circular marks rather than drips.  Do you have children?  Could they have been playing with blow darts at some point in the past?

Is it vertical though? Could well be the seat cusion standing up for a photo.

Certainly does look like blood to me too though.

Bed bugs don't leave stains and certainly not that size.
    Doubt it's mice either.

  • @op looks just like a few drops of coffee that was spilt on your sofa - nothing to worry about

The stains look more like cocoa or something like that (?spilt accidentally and then naughty person turned cushion over?) and certainly nothing like mouse droppings, which are dry and hard.

I recognise the stains shown on the back of your sofa.
Found the same sort of stains on the carpets behind furniture when we first moved into this house some years ago when we had mice.
We used "Raid" which is a type of poison. This comes in the form of grain with a blue anticoagulant coating.    You probably used something similar. The mouse eats the grain, this prevents the blood from clotting and the mouse haemorrhages.  It usually wanders off, dying elsewhere but leaving the bloodstains behind and this is what you can see on your sofa.
