Investing Birthday Money

I received £400 from my grandparents for my 21st birthday. Really keen to start investing but I'm a student so will need the invest to be relatively liquid. Any suggestions with interest rates being so low?

Not really enough to start investing, unless you were going to use it as a lump sum and then continue to contribute thereafter - and it seems that you may want instant access to the cash.
