Travel Insurance

Hi,
I normaly buy travel insurance shortly before I go away and our family holiday was not until end of May so both Eurostar and EasyJet not cancelled yet.  I am concerned that should the travel be cancelled due to Government advice; I will only be able recoup any costs via travel insurance.  Therefore can someone clarify and recommend best option here.  With nothing cancelled yet, am I still able buy insurance to cover such eventuality and if so any recommendations for insurer?
I have another (related) question but think best to post separately so as not to confuse issues.
Thanks

Any insurance you take out now will not cover you.

You have left it far too late, no insurance bought now is going to cover you for a known pandemic.
  • Well thats the grey area isn't it? As there is currently no travel advice available that far in advance.  I expect most if not all insurers would have changed the wording somewhat but I would expect it to cover the known timespans not future.
  • I always pay a small deposit on my credit card so hopefully that will include something if travel is cancelled out of my control.

There is no grey area at all. In fact my current insurer sent me an email a few weeks ago stating that only holidays booked before the email was sent will be covered. I suspect every other annual policy has done the same and no single trip provider will cover it. By all means report back if you find one.
  • Hi, just found the notice on the other page that says it was extended on 4th April to "indefinitely" so that's answer to my question.  If I'd been on ball and followed it up before 4th April I think I would have been able but now there is no chance.
