Cancelled items rights and items still being delivered

I made a cancellation in writing to a company as dispatch dates changed about 4 or 5 different times, and I've been waiting around 3 weeks now. I cancelled before dispatch. They have ignored my cancellation and refund requests and are now going to be shipping the items (so they say). I will not be signing for any items but am wondering what my rights are if they leave the items on my property? The items are very heavy so will cost me alot to post back, I think they are maybe ignoring cancellations because they know most people won't want the hassle of posting back heavy items. What are my rights here since I cancelled before dispatch and they are ignoring my requests? They are UK based and I am a consumer.

In the current climate the courier will deliver the items, leave them on your doorstep (or similar) and will sign for them. They're usually expected to get confirmation that somebody is there at the property though.
Have you informed them of cancellation per their stated method? (I know you've written, and you've complied with your legal requirements, but if you make sure to follow their process then they have no comeback).
How much are we talking about, and how did you pay?0 -
Yes I spoke to them via email so they have replied to my messages regarding my cancellation but ignore those requests and say the items will be dispatched soon? It is around £40 and via debit.0

Make sure you are there when they arrive and tell the driver to leave them on the van and take them back as you have cancelled. I'm sure they will be happy.Life in the slow lane1

I ordered some items from a seemingly european well laid out site. Immediately I paid, I was sent links to all sorts of iffy sites offering the same discounts I'd used to get the original item. Red flags started flashing. Then i received an email from a chinese company. Up until that point there was no hint the item was chinese in origin (I did check). I cancelled the item. Then followed a week of emails either ignored or being told the item had already been dispatched when their tracking link showed it hadn't been. When the item arrived I refused it and thank god, had paid via paypal so immediately requested a refund through paypal. I already knew from emails from the original company that I'd have a lot of difficulty getting a refund from there (all sorts of restrictions and delays). But it was a lot of stress communicating with this company, waiting in on edge for the delivery to make sure I could refuse it (otherwise I'd have to pay for return to China). I got the refund immediately from paypal once I gave them proof the item had been returned, I also copied the emails showing I'd tried to cancel days before dispatch and how unhelpful the company were.
So I'd advise waiting for the arrival of the goods, normally even if they leave them outside the house, they knock to let you know a delivery has been made. If I'm expecting an important delivery I have a notice on my door asking them to knock loudly to make sure I don't miss it.
Hope this helps. I will never make the same mistake again lol.

Just curious as to what costs £40 but is so heavy that the return postage would cost a lot to send back0

I bought some racking for £19 last week, and it'd cost a fortune to return via 'normal means' as it's large and heavy.ToxicWomble said:Just curious as to what costs £40 but is so heavy that the return postage would cost a lot to send back
Same with the exhaust that arrived the week before - £25, but weighs around 18KG and well over 1m long.
