Caravan fees

I have just received invoice for caravan fees for this season 2020, as the caravan park is closed and we cannot use it should we have to pay full fees?  Invoice states the amount we pay includes water and electricity.

I seem to remember a couple of threads on this board in which others owning caravans or holiday homes were asking about refunds on site fees or not paying.  You may wish to settle down in front of your PC and scroll through the threads.

I would also dig out the terms and conditions of your site to see what is mentioned on those if access is unavailable for any period of time.

    Try their trade association (http://www.bhhpa.org.uk/)

As I understand it, the caravan is yours and not the sites so they will have no legal right to move it without your permission. In addition, the caravan is still occupying a space which is not yours but theirs - and they are still responsible for rates, water standing charges and electricity standing charges. So you and the site are literally in it together similar to people who are renting physical properties. Your advantage though is you can take your asset (caravan) off site whereas people who are renting are stuck there.

Do check your terms but I suspect the only option to reduce your costs will be to take the unit away or come to some sort of comprise.

    • "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
