Best people to check that out with would probably be the Financial Services Authority (FSA). http://www.fsa.gov.uk/
My understanding is that unless the post is one where you are required to be accredited/regulated by the FSA you are legally fine. But the recruitment policies of individual firms are theirs to decide on.
That is the position I have seen "quoted" by others, but I would urge you to check it out yourself.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

With respect to the bankruptcy, even if it does not appear on your CRF's it will still be recorded and searchable in the London Gazette and the Registry Trust's Register of Judgements.

Hello,
just wanted to add my two pennies worth.
I understand employers don't want corrupt fraudsters working for them, but I'm sure most b/rs & discharged b/rs are honest hard working people who didn't get themselves into this position on purpose and now its happened just want to work, live normally, get on & would never dream of being dishonest in any way. I'm a civil servant (yes, I'm one of them) and I was asked to declair any b/r's which I did, even though I wasn't dealing with any money They did check it out, I had a nail-biting wait, but got the job, and can do the job just as well as anybody who's never had to live through such a stressful thing as b/r is.
