HOLD onto your sticky hats', a Champion boy is coming to London this Christmas!
The Birmingham Stage Company & The Sherman Theatre Cardiff's highly acclaimed production of Roald Dahl's Danny the Champion of the World', currently touring the UK very successfully, will play a special Christmas season at London's UCL Bloomsbury Theatre 11 December - January 26.
Danny' is the sixth Dahl show to be produced by Birmingham Stage Company following their past big successes with such Dahl hits as James & the Giant Peach' and The BFG'.
Danny the Champion of the World tells the story of Danny, a young boy who lives in a caravan with his Dad, the most marvellous and exciting Dad any boy ever had.
But his father has a secret! When night comes, he poaches pheasants from Hazell's Wood, sometimes using the amazing sticky hat' method, guaranteed to work on 99 per cent of pheasants!
But Mr Hazell, the biggest landowner in the district, wants to evict them both and the battle is quickly on to save their home.
But how can one little boy defeat a rich and powerful landowner? Danny has a plan - and soon he and his Dad are caught up in a thrilling and remarkable adventure!
BSC's wonderfully exciting and funny production, adapted from Dahl's original story by national children's playwright', David Wood, is directed by Phil Clarke and has a cast of ten, led by Gareth Warren in the title role and Richard Nicholls as his Dad.
The actors also provide all the incidental music and sound effects for the show.
Roald Dahl died 17 years ago but his books still sell in their millions across the world, and he remains one of the most popular children's authors ever.
Now there's a chance to see one of his loveliest and most sensitively written books brought to life on tour.
Birmingham, Stage Company are well known for their great stage versions of children's classics such as The Jungle Book, and Kensuke's Kingdom both of which were hit Christmas shows at the UCL Bloomsbury Theatre over the last two years.
