Electric bike battery

Options
Can anyone help with a Carrera Crosscity E bike x2 purchased from Halfords in Aug 2017
The batteries were stored as per the owners manual and last week decided to charge the batteries with the charger showing as green
that told us the batteries were fully charged . Put them in the bikes and no power showing
Visited the local store and they have told us we are nit in the two year warranty so need to buy 2 batteries at a cost of £300 each
how do we stand with taking this issue further with Halfords as they will not listen to our plea being old age pensioners

  • I do apologize if I have not followed the rules for this Forum but really don’t know what to do now as In Total despair
  • I don't see you've broken any forum rules.  Wait for some responses.

If out of warranty (more than two years?) I suspect it will come down to whether you can show that there was some inherent fault with the battery (batteries) when you bought the bike (bikes), or whether they aren't fit for purpose.  If* you've stored the batteries according to the manufacturer's instructions, I'd expect them to be OK after a couple of years - especially if they cost £300!

See what more knowledgeable posters than me say.

*Of course, batteries are designed to be used and don't like being "stored".  Have they been stored just since last summer/autumn or since 2017?
  • They have only been stored since last October

Battery's may be classed as a consumable .However you are out of warranty OAPs don't get an extension .
You may have rights against the vendor under Consumer Regulations not warranty .

But light green showing as fully charged , then put in bike and  nothing showing .
What happens if you take the battery out still green . That would indicate a probable connection fail .
Charge the batterys again after being out for so long they just may need a recharge .
  • That sounds poor - and unsatisfactory.
    See what others think.

PS - I know people hate duplicate posts on these boards, but there is a dedicated Public Transport and Cycling board on here as well, and regular posters on there seem fairly knowledgeable on cycling issues.  Try posting there.  Say you've tried here but no real responses.

    Good luck
  • Sorry not familiar with responding to replies apart from ticking on Thanks
I have posted this comment on a different category as suggested
  • I will try to charge one of the batteries again even though it still shows green light as if the batteries are fully charged
