Deposit for 2 Italian Sofas, no delivery date, can I get refund?

I went into a store in February and placed an order for two Italian Sofas, paying £800 deposit.  Since then the Coronavirus has developed, particularly in Southern Italy, where the sofas are to be made.  The store cannot now give me even an estimated delivery date, which I can understand as the factory is closed, but they cannot hold onto my deposit indefinitely can they?  I have asked for an estimated delivery date or cancel the order and refund my money.  They just keep referring the the contract and that they have placed the order with the factory.

If you didn't set an absolute delivery requirement, it's down to what's reasonable and in the current circumstances, a lengthy delay would be considered reasonable.  What does the contract say about how much of the deposit will be lost if you cancel?  The are permitted to cover their costs to date, which might use up some or even most of that £800, so it's probably worth waiting a while rather than losing money by cancelling.

They quoted 10 to 12 weeks from 17 February, which would take to the beginning of May.

Definitely wait then.  I could foresee a delay of at least a month, based on the situation in Italy and here.
