Car hire debt letters

Options
Hi, I have recently had to hire a car due to my car being stolen, unfortunately I have received a number of letters relating to the car hire company stating unpaid debt, I think this relates to a parking ticket and a bridge crossing, I am currently trying to find this information out.
The problem is I am now out of work due to Covid 19 and seeking benefit and unable to pay the debt, could you advise me on what I am entitled to do as the letter states they will take further action that will cost more money:(
Many Thanks and stay safe
Karen

Are these debts related to Council fines or private car parks? (The bridge one I'd imagine is a toll and so is council/statutory ... the parking one depends on who is asking).

Have the hire company paid the fines and are pursuing you now?

This is almost certainly what's happened. And, yes, OP - you did agree to them doing it when you hired the car. Read the Ts & Cs.

The car park/toll crossing have contacted the registered keeper, from their video of the registration.

Simplest, cheapest way forward... Pay ASAP. You will ultimately be found liable, the only difference is that the cost will continue to escalate.

^^^ is correct for Council fines/statutory penalties. If the parking one was for a private car park (i.e. the PCN was an invoice not a fine) then it's not so clear cut.
