Are these "unsolicited goods"?

So the back story to this is the wife and I went into a mobile provider store to pre order the Samsung Galaxy S20 ultra and a galaxy watch. This was directly in store, not over the phone or online.
Come release day, 10th march, we go back into the store to collect the handset and watch.
Yesterday with no announcement, no tracking information, there's a knock at the door and DPD have delivered a parcel on the doorstep, something we haven't signed for due to the current situation and contactless deliveries.
The wife collects the package and brings it in. Turns out to be ANOTHER S20 Ultra and galaxy watch.
Well aware that the hardware costs nearly £2k and the right thing would be to send it back, but there's a small part of me that wants to keep it.
I know if it's classed as unsolicited goods that I have a right to claim them as mine, and the only time the network provider sends out handsets is if you order online or over the phone, which we haven't.
Where do we stand?

No not unsolicited. An error based on your request for a new phone. So the back story to this is the wife and I went into a mobile provider store to pre order the Samsung Galaxy S20 ultra and a galaxy watch. This was directly in store, not over the phone or online.

No it is not. You have prior contact with the company that sent it, and it is clearly a mistake. unsolicited goods are incredibly rare nowadays.
You need to return it.3 -
Ok, thanks. Will keep them safe and contact them again when the customer service centres open again

If they let you keep them (highly unlikely), get them to confirm in writing. In the absence of any communication to/from them you will have to keep them safe and unopened for six years. They can pursue the matter at any point up until then.2

tank2521 said:I know if it's classed as unsolicited goodsThe clue is in the word "unsolicited" which means "not asked for"; you did ask for the item but due to a mistake they gave you the item in store and then also sent one to your home so the goods are not unsolicited..Consequently you have no right to claim the item and the retailer can ask for its return at their cost. I believe you have an obligation to take reasonable care of the goods while in your possession so the sensible thing would be to let them know they need to collect it ASAP to reduce the risk of it being damaged or lost before being returned.
