Advice to ignore is not present on this forum and hasn't been since 2012. If you found some, could you post a link to it please and it will be adjusted. Of course you "take no action" about debt collector or other threatening letters. If you receive a letter of/before claim, that is when you take action. Go to the NEWBIE sticky and read all the advice. Did you complain to the landowner?2

Izzycat13 said:Hi guys, hope you are all keeping safe.
I've received a Letter before action- claim for debt from Civil Enforcement LTD threatening court action for an 'outstanding debt of £170'.
This dates back to a PCN i received in June 2019. I was parked on a car park, not intending to be there more than an hour, but there was a major sporting event and i could not get back to my car because the roads were closed around where my car was. I have followed the online 'advice' of ignoring these letters from Civil Enforcement LTD as the advice is to not respond and they will go away, the letters i receive always say they 'may' take action..
This latest letter before action is very threatening, they have enclosed Debt advice, Christians against poverty links, National Debtline number amongst others.
The letter states that again, they MAY take action, but i'm getting a little nervous.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Now read the ABUSE OF PROCESS threads, there are two parts to see what the courts do with scammers like CEL

These scammers rely on people not understanding .... after you read the above, you will understand and on that basis, you play the game. CEL already know what the courts say about fake add-ons so you ask them one simple question which is .. "On what LEGAL AUTHORITY do they have to add unknown amounts"
If they take this to court they are now bound by the new Civil procedure covering witness statements which clearly says ....
For witness statements, the statement of truth’s wording will be as follows:
I believe that the facts stated in this witness statement are true. I understand that proceedings for contempt of court may be brought against anyone who makes, or causes to be made, a false statement in a document verified by a statement of truth without an honest belief in its truth.
For CEL, that means the added fake amount

threatening court action for an 'outstanding debt of £170'.
£70 of which is unlawful, read this
forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6014081/abuse-of-process-district-judge-tells-bwlegalNine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.
Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.
Hopefully, when life gets back to normal, it will become impossible for those scammers who are left to continue their vile trade, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
