Furlough and Universal Credit

Hello,
I've been furloughed by my employer and so am on 80% income which works out at £1200 p/m before deductions. I will lose a week of this in first month and will instead get SPG so I will get even less, so I've been sorting and holding off a few bills as I only just make ends meet as it is on my normal wage. 

I thought that due to my lower income I may be entitled to Universal Credit so yesterday I filled out the claim online apart from the last bit - my bank details. The application asked about my employment details and other stuff which I completed but didn't give me a chance anywhere to say I was furloughed. Anyway, now I am really panicking incase this application affects my retention payments to my employers, who are being very cautious about when us furloughed (only a tiny few of us out of 30 employees) folk will get paid. They say they're waiting for HMRC to confirm the scheme. Usual payday is mid of each month. Anyway, I'm panicking that my UC application will affect my furlough payment now and wondering whether to cancel the claim. It's all a bit stressful.

Claiming Uc will not affect your furlough entitlement. The furlough arrangement is between you and your employer. If your earnings are low enough UC will pay you a top up.
