I assume they are chasing me for payment,
Well , either they are or they are not. Why do you assume?
When was your holiday booked for? At present travel is  against the guidelines.
    Do you have insurance?
I assume, because I haven't been able to get in touch with them, nor them with me other than sending me a PDF asking me to call them, but if I try to log on to their website I can't get any further than a message which says to call them to make a payment.
Holiday was booked for 2nd week in July.
I took out their insurance, but when I asked for a copy of it, it appears to be nothing other than roadside assistance.
  • So, if am reading this right you have a 'live' booking that you haven't yet paid for?     Leaving aside the fact they sent an email in error it doesn't sound like anything has been done on your holiday for this year...yet!     This seems to be the common experience that because of the sheer volume the agents are working in date order and only contacting holidaymakers with their options nearer the time.    I think cottages.com are only working on holidays up to 3rd July at moment.   As yours is after that then you will be contacted but (hate to say this) as you haven't paid your balance they may just cancel your holiday?

Of course, the whole thing may be cancelled due to FCO advice remaining the same (which seems on the cards still) and you may then be able to request a refund of your deposit but if your cottage is up and running, it gets trickier although as you have the email stating they were cancelling in April, I think this would go in your favour.   Fingers crossed.
