Universal Credit advance payment help

Hi all I was paid by UC on the 1st however times are had so I’ve considered applying for an advance. However if I apply for an advance now does that then mean that I won’t be paid on the 1st of May would I just be paid June? Or will I still be paid begin of May aswell of the advance, many thanks x

You need to claiming UC for at least 6 months before you can apply for a budgeting advance. https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/on-universal-credit/budgeting-advance/

If eligible then then you will still be paid your next UC as well as the advance.

But your future payments will be reduced because the advance has to be paid back by deduction from future payments

I was told I can't apply for budgeting advance anymore that they won't give it for essential items such as clothes etc, they said if I had a broken cooker I would need proof before I apply for budgeting advance, I don't think its worth the time ringing them now waiting times are way too long during this pandemic.
