Had a mini cruise booked for the beginning of May.  I have been told by the Shearings it has been cancelled and I have a credit note. They say 'no cash alternative will be offered'. I don't plan on going on another, as the goverment advises over 70s which I am, should not go on cruises.. I want a full refund.  Any advice please

What are the terms of the credit note?  Does it expire at a certain point when you can convert it to a cash refund?

The short story is that under current consumer law, you're entitled to a refund. Practically, however, there is no way to force it quickly.  Legal action will take many months, hence my asking about the terms of the credit. It may be faster to wait than to go through a legal process.

Yes you are quite right there is a bit that says 'If you do not use the holiday credit note by 31st July 2020, then please contact us to discuss other options including a refund'  So you are saying best to wait till then?

If it were me, I would wait because a small claims process looks likely to go on beyond 31st July.  See what the situation is in July.  My personal opinion is that travel restrictions will still be in place over the whole summer, so there is a chance the voucher gets rolled over, but if you have no desperate need for the money now, you may as well wait until you know more.
