Morning all! Beautiful sunny day! How come it takes me so long to get and get tea and read things? I was up an hour ago and I've only just sat down to have tea and reply...Is there another time dimension I'm not aware of that happens first thing? Is it like the shopping zone where you go into seven different shops only to go back and buy something from the first one?More garden sorting today. It' amazing how much I can find to do even when there's ostensibly nothing to do. At least I'm happy in the garden and pottering round but I do think I ought to make a schedule and stick to it otherwise I'll just flit form thing to thing. My sister is truly getting on my nerves at the moment. She lives alone now but cannot seem to grasp that essential travel, essential supplies means just that. It doesn't mean drive around until you find somewhere you fancy trying, it doesn't mean make food for people and drop it off for those who are more than capable of doing it themselves, it doesn't mean drive twenty miles to pick something up that's not essential. I have tried and tried to get through to her but she is like a shiny plastic surface, it just all slides off...I know she's bored, I know she's lonely, but really? She'd rather take her chances than suffer a little boredom? I'm getting angry just thinking about it. I was so angry yesterday I nearly had an asthma attack. This is just indicating that I must do a frozen. And hope she doesn't get it and lives so I can go and slap her for being so bloody irreponsible.Anyway...enough of me ranting....My tomato seeds are up [ can't remember if I've already said that] and so are the hollyhocks...The germination rates are not that great on the bought ones, about 50% if that, and I am comparing them to my saved seeds from last year which are at about 98%. Let's hope I can keep them alive long enough to save some from this years batch. There'll be plenty spare though to put out the front if anyone wants to take some when they get bigger though.Nelski, hope youre dancing away with brooms this morning in a completely non witch like way. Pretty soon you'll be trilling and all the birds and animals will rush in to clear up for you...TA, hope Sparkle is sorted out now. Glad your DD is improving. Ruby, I hope your love affair with the PW continues to amuse you
AOD, I'm betting monna has a wager on when it'll get done....are you vegetarian or just don't like meat? I lived next door to someone who literally couldn't stomach it, it made him ill. You don't have to answer, I'm kind of musing. Gers, enjoy your walk wherever you go . Dumpling, that's nice of Steve. Hope you stay positive for the now....Bella, good luck finding a moving van for them. If there's nothing open you could try local busineses that are still open...Scarlet enjoy the decorating!Hey all reading along, hope you're all good...Or just OK....

Morning all.
A bit late starting this morning as I've been on the phone. What would we do without the phone to connect with people? I'm talking about old fashioned landlines here. New, smart, whizzy type phones that do everything except the washing up, have no place in my life, technophobe that I am.
Dumpling, life seems to be looking up for you. You will even be getting beautiful, fresh fruit and veg if Lee has his way. You really have a family to cherish.
TA, what news of Sparkle? Poor little scrap. It must be dreadful to have all that itching and not be able to understand why.
AOD Congratulations on the non-ironing. Mine too is still in a heap on the spare bedroom floor. Which one of us will crack first?
dp1, I know what you mean about those cute little clothes. I only had boys myself so missed out on those delights. However, I had a niece who was a tomboy from the getgo, and refused to wear anything but jeans. Eventually I had my youngest granddaughter who was a real pink-princessy sort of child. Aged 7 now, she is still passionate about clothes, bless her. A real fashionista in the making.
I don't know what today holds. More of the same I guess. I have plans for doing a bit more sorting out, the house is still in turmoil from the move. However, as fast as I clear up one bit, another bit gets messy. Story of my life!
THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Good morning all,
I am slowly catching up with the jobs that I have been too lazy/shattered to do since I went back to work last year. As I've done so much catching up, I spent a fair bit of yesterday turning ingredients from the cupboards into proper food. I made potato cakes, cherry scones and chocolate cake. I also picked rhubarb from the garden and made four pots of rhubarb and ginger jam. The ginger was originally in the form of a small plant from my best friend as he'd planted some to see what would happen. What happened was a good sized piece of ginger root which has come in very handy.
Today's adventures in cooking will be gingerbread bunnies and welsh rarebit once I've finished my coffee. The HT and I were out early for our morning walk. It was lovely and sunny but there was ice on car windscreens so not so warm yet. If it's warmer this afternoon I may venture out to do some weeding.
Take care all of you

Morning all and a lovely one it is too. We've both been out with the dog, she'll walk further if DH holds her lead, so we managed a decent little stroll for once.He is bored and fidgety, it's come as a shock after being so busy at work the last couple of years.Anyway he's fished an old suitcase out with old photos and mementoes, our DSons baby things, school reports, his DM and dads too.We cant sit at the dining table but if it keeps him quiet....Been catching up with people by phone at the weekend, which was nice.I made some scones yesterday.Decided to ditch the WWatch for now, given that atm what you can get food items arent the ones you necessarily need for a weight loss plan, still plenty of veg so I'll be careful but not beat myself up about it if I put a couple of pounds on. Having said that I managed to get an online slot in 3 weeks time, we'll manage till then with freezer stocks and the milkman. The butcher will deliver too if I need meat.I dyed my hair yesterday, luckily had 2 boxes in so no roots showing now.DH is desperate for a hair cut and we ordered some trimmers but it seems they have been inundated and run out of stock so have refunded the money.Hope Boris is ok, and indeed everyone else on here, take care xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. Morning all, I had a terrible night with lots of broken sleep and scary dreams and I didn't have any cheese before bedtime either. However this morning the sun is out..... Yay !! so I'll grit my teeth and get on with it.I rang Dad last night and he was impressed with the shopping delivered by SiL, in fact he thought there were only a couple of bags full til SiL went back to his car and brought out several more
He was very grateful, but kept wanting to pay me with cash or a cheque and he couldn't seem to understand that neither are any good to me at present as I can't get to a bank. I don't think he had seen so much food for a long time, well not since my DM passed away. We also face timed DD who is now doing a very large painting by numbers and then DGD had to give us a lesson in gymnastics
Poor Jasper doesn't know what's going on with having all his family at home every day and he has new anti histamine tablets too, so he's a bit out of sorts.Today I shall finish the fridge sort out and perhaps then potter in the garden and if I get a second wind the hedge roots are still waiting for me to them pull out. I have noticed that my 2 pieris bushes are blooming too, one's a deep red colour and the other silver....... beautiful. I suppose the clue's in the names, flaming fire and flaming silver.... doh !Right enough procrastinating, the fridge awaits my attention.Take care and stay safe all.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently14 -
I took myself out into the beautiful sunshine, what a joy! My first job was to try to empty the recycling bag into the bin, couldn't as both were full (two bins for eight households is just ridiculous anyway which is why I normally take it the tip each week) so I decided to take it to the local Tesco Extra. Another joyous moment, the four big bins had just been emptied so timing was perfect. Then I bought DM a paper, she does like a good read. My next task was to take my car for a long fast drive. It's diesel and not supposed to do frequent short journeys so I headed off to the Balloch / Loch Lomond geese roundabout and then turned round. For a lot of the journey I could go at 70mph so that should have charged the battery a bit and cleared the diesel partical filter. And I thoroughly enjoyed it. The part of the road called a boulevard has acres of fabulous daffodils all the way up the central reservation. It won't be long until all the cherry trees start to bloom. On the less good news part DM's crossword / scrabble friend has to register to shield. He's well over 70 and has COPD. Despite his reluctance the GP phoned him to say that shielding wasn't optional so he doesn't want to lose the goodwill of the doctors. At least he'll get acccess to Tesco deliveries again.Good news is that I'm fine still! Bored, every so slightly miserable but not ill, not hungry, not cold and not stuck in the house.13

Nanny, anecdotally lots of people are experiencing strange dreams atm.
I was thinking about not posting today because it will be a very boring post. Nothing is happening here, everyone seems healthy and there is no news. I shall be sewing again today and Steve is varnishing the internal doors (I don't know how long he's had the varnish in to do it, several years at least.

Monna it will.probably be me because of running out of pillowcases.
~taff I just don't much like it. And certainly not big amounts.
I have just had lockdown veg soup, a slice of onion, a small potato, a tired carrot, three cabbage leaves and a broccoli stalk. I think being a bit stressy is affecting my skin. I usually have quite nice skin for an.oldie but not at present, in fact I look like a bag of spanners.
Have dug another few feet of border. . Going to watch some tv on the iPlayer and make bears.
I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back12 -
Can i borrow some of your spanners?
I've got resting !!!!!! face down to a T. I'm not sure if I'm going off it or not but apart from bacon, I'm finding it all a bit dry at the moment, but that may be my cooking and/or the quality of the meat. Have repositioned the stand for the water butt, oddly enough, this time when I rebuilt it, it was perfectly level...God knows how I managed that..Have also found myself a new job. Dig out the crap behind the greenhouse so it's level with the concrete and remove all stones and weeds to chuck rest on the beds. That's quite therapeutic and apart from the digging, it's a nice perch on the edge of the bed sit down job....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi12 -
Strangely I had to sign in again ?This afternoon we've had lots of army helicopters and also a Galaxy transport plane going over. Wonder what's going on ?I have removed about 4ft of roots....... only another 30 odd feet to go
Good job the hedge only takes up about half the length of the garden ! The soil is lovely and some of it will be redeployed around the garden, I don't think it has been disturbed since the 1940's when the hedge was planted ( according to Joan who moved in when the houses were new ) Intermittent sunbathing ensued too and in a short sleeved T.shirt
Nelski I hope you are moving up the paint chart. I also noticed that one of our outside doors has started peeling, so I managed to pull some of it off.....t'was so therapeutic, like peeling wallpaper ! Today has been a good day for me and I seem to be on a high at present, but I shall send many hugs to those who are struggling.TA I hope your delivery was ok for you.love nan
