It's only very rare that an employer needs to know about issues with debt - and I'm guessing that the circumstances in which it would don't apply to you, or you'd aleady know about them, so don't worry about that side of it.

When you do the SOA using the link you have been given once you complete it you'll see an option to "format for MSE" - that then allows you to paste into this thread exactly as you would paste something anywhere else. It's nice and straightforward.

Please don't commit to anything like a secured loan until you've been through everything thoroughly though - it is, as Fatbelly said - highly unlikely to EVER be the right solution!

  • In terms of the gambling , can you expand a bit more on what is was? I could probably give some advice if you need to help stop it.

I saw your other post as well about the trouble posting your SOA. You've clearly done the leg work in terms of getting it together - can you try on a computer? Don't let a technical glitch undo your hard work. People are here to help.

Hi I couldnot do the SOA on my mobile phone for me to post it would not do it. However I finally text stepchange and in putted all my debts and they showed me a DMP. I have not agreed yet sounds silly but im scared. I cant pluck up the courage to talk to an advisor yet and they arent on line yet as they are busy. Can any one answer my thoughts please which are I have not missed any payments yet so will the card companies refuse my DMP? Also can they ignore my DMP and send debt collectors to my door?  Thankyou

I'm no expert on DMPs but from what I've learned on here you need to open a basic bank account unconnected to any of your debts (so they can't swoop in and take your cash without you permission), make sure your wage goes into your new account, default on your debts and use the money to save up an emergency fund (this is ESSENTIAL) and either manage your DMP yourself and offer your debtors a certain amount, or let Stepchange do it for you.

Alternatively, you could try again to post up your soa and we can help you figure out if this is even a road you want to go down. Your credit rating will be in pieces and my concern for you is if you haven't got a handle on your gambling, you may get back end up with new debts very quickly. A dmp is like someone forcing a budget on you, why not try budgeting yourself first and see how you get on? You can always do a dmp later if it doesn't work out.

You still sound a bit panicked. Deep breaths, its only money, and there are ways out of all these situations.

Thankyou so much, I have tried but it wipes off when I try to put it on here. The thing is I actually have nothing left to budget, I pay my debrs then take the payments ive paid on cards back as soon as it clears. The card companies were not helpful (why should they be) really. They offered 30 days which I have not taken yet.  I feel the DMP is probably the only route but Im so worried that having this will still send creditors to my door. At the moment im juggling by paying one late each month then paying it when paid again. Its all self inflicted I actually stopped gambling and drinking and self pity about 16 months now . However instead of sorting my debt its escalated and im facing up to it and its really sickened me how ive done this to myself. Thankyou so much for your advice, im aloner so I appreciate your reply👍
