Tailgate warning Light and Courtesy Light not Showing when Tailgate is Open
Hi all,
I have an Astra H 2006 1.7 CDTI SRI
From the subject heading you've probably realised I'm having trouble with the tailgate open warning light. It doesn't show when the tailgate is open and the courtesy light doesn't light up either. The warning light does show when the driver and passenger doors' are open.
Things I've tried:
1) Swapping the build from the glove box to the one in the boot (Nothing)
2) Removing the tailgate latch, taking it apart to see if I could spot the problem. I even removed the micro switch but that's a sealed unit so can't check inside. All seemed fine in the latch, however.
3) Using a piece of wire to check the connection for the tailgate latch by placing it on the connections and the other end of the wire on an unpainted section of the car. (Nothing)
I'm at a loss as what to do next so any and all advice would be great.
Thank you in advanced.
Lance.

So you have checked the bulb and it is not that. So it is either a broken wire or the switch. My money would be on the switch go wd40 mad in and around it.0

Mine is on a broken wire where they flex inside that rubber tube affair joining the tailgate to the body at the top. You might find that the wiper doesn't work properly, or you can't open the boot as more wires break.
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Very much like the Zafira rear doors where the windows stop working as the wires gradually break & on Ebay there are quite a few repair kits for this so there may also be on for the Astra tailgate ?0 -
Fairly common problem on the vx forums, often down to oxidised contacts in the switch.

Have you tried shutting the "tailgate"? If so there would be no need of the notification light coming on.0
