Learner driver insurance

In february we took out learner driver insurance for our son with Collingwood. With Corona, learning to drive is obvs not essential travel so he can't drive and is therefore not a risk to insure. Collingwood want to charge full canx costs £67 and will not put a 3 month holiday on the policy. I tink that is outrageous. Any other experience out there?

Seems cheap to me. The terms on cancelling/changing cover would have been given when the cover was accepted.rippa700 said:In february we took out learner driver insurance for our son with Collingwood. Does he have his own car? If so, you would be better leaving the insurance to run, it could be stolen for example.rippa700 said:In february we took out learner driver insurance for our son with Collingwood. That was what I originally thought, but on re-reading, I suspected this is a child placed on their parent's policy to learn in their parent's car (or a very similar situation). My above reply was based on that situation (but also covers a persons own car)Confusedezza said:

I've just had the same conversation with Veygo (part of Admiral). We took the policy out on 10th March and then went into lockdown on the 23rd so she hasn't been able to drive during all this time. They will only provide a cancellation from the date of notification.....I only remembered today so they are offering £1.74 credit towards a policy when she is able to drive again. I think this is really poor customer service!0
