Furlough - will I be able to relieved?

I am a supply teacher.
The first day I worked for the supply agency was 24th February.  I worked a week in hand and was paid on 3rd March.
I received an email last week from the supply agency who have said that they will write to everyone who is entitled to be furloughed in the next week.  I have heard nothing.
My question: For my employer to be able to claim furlough is it based on when you start the job (in my case 24th February)  or on the date you are paid (for me 3rd March)?
I would be grateful for any advice.
Many thanks

It is based on the payroll data as recorded on the 28 Feb.

So it is down to whether your employer had you entered on the PAYE system on 28 Feb.
  • Is there anyway I can find our when I was added to their PAYE system.
I have tried to phone head office. No reply.
I have spoke to my line manager there but they don’t know.
    Thanks

Hello, can anyone offer me any advice. My coffee shop was forced to close following the Covid19 restrictions. To protect the staff I have furloughed all employees. However I am putting together a delivery service and will need to staff to cover this. I am able to bring furloughed staff back? Do they have the right to refuse to come back to work if they wish to remain on furlough and in the case, I am able to recruit additional staff to cover?  Any help would be welcome

I'd recommend starting a new thread on this to get a better response and not confuse this one.

    Refer to your payslip.
If you were paid for 28/02 then you were presumably on the payroll then.

But as already mentioned above, it's up to the employer to decide if they will furlough you.

As an employer, I doubt I would be too keen to furlough a temporary worker who I had only taken on a week earlier, especially as someone in your situation would be unlikely to obtain further work from us for 6 months.

Btw, most school teachers cannot be furloughed under the CJRS as they are already usually funded by state funds ;)

Didn't take account of the public sector being a teacher element in my earlier reply.

As you say furlough not generally available to the public sector so PAYE payroll may not be so relevant.
