I recently move back to UK for new job. I had rented a studio in Wolverhampton. I tried to apply a new current account on my current address and none of the banks accept my application!!

It is probably because there is no financial record of you - when you apply online bank's automated systems look for evidence of other credit products such as cards, loans, mobile phones, internet etc as well as the electoral roll. If you are not on the ER you need to get yourself added asap. Go to https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

The best thing to do going forward is probably go into a branch or failing that (and it is probably not that easy right now) give your chosen bank a call and explain your situation. There are many in your position and banks have processes to deal with such applications. You could also check your credit file to see what i there although I doubt that will help too much.

It is probably best not to continually apply online and get continually rejected.

I don't think it's your address that's the issue it's more likely the fact that you will have little to know credit history for the past 6 years.  Who did you bank with before moving to Switzerland?

From their past posts here, they have been financially active in the UK during the last 6 years - e.g. applying - apparently successfully - for a NatWest credit card in 2016. So my guess would be something adverse in their credit history, rather than no history.

You would think the OP would try for an account with nat-west then, as they'd have some history, as you say, more than meets the eye on this one.

You might find that Monzo or Starling can help, both banks only gave an app for applications, so there is no fallback to branch

They verify your ID by photo and selfie, as well as the normal electronic checks
